If you can’t get excited and passionate about what you’re building, then you might as well spare yourself the time and stop.
The late Lakers owner Jerry Buss once said, “it has to be more than just basketball.” He was a mastermind at innovative business marketing, giving rise to the “Showtime Era” centered on the Laker girls building hype with a live band, selling out arenas and stirring nationwide buzz.
We too, at EverEngage, hope to do the same. For us, it is more than just email marketing. EverEngage is modeled on that same principle of “delivering experiences and not just emails!”
The way we envision it, marketers should think of themselves as star athletes, bringing entertainment and joy to their entire audience while maximizing the score board (ROI baby!). EverEngage is designed to provide you that same arena and is your teammate on the court assisting you to throw down the slam dunk!
1. It’s been a wild adventure
I’m sure you’ve heard many times that “it’s not the destination, but the journey that matters”. Well, what’s certain is that no one wants to go through the journey and reach failure at the terminal, ouch! In the end, we all want to win.
From meet ups, conferences, product development interviews, go to meeting calls and Skyping, to pinging, chatting, evaluating the competition, designing and re-designing, updating feature lists and creating JIRA’s, the days to our launch are palpable.
2. This s**t was (and still is) really hard to build — and we think we’ve outdone the rest!
In order to advance upon products that people are already familiar with in their day-to-day lives and businesses, it is for all intents and purposes fundamental to “do it better”- so to say.
Just take a look at the dynamics behind the powerhouse Apple. Apple essentially made “MP3’s better” with the invention of the iPod. When Steve Jobs introduced the iPod, everyone initially voiced that “MP3’s had been around for years and so what was the big deal?” The big deal was Steve Jobs made MP3’s relatable to consumers by saying “1000 songs in your pocket,” instead of speaking in technical jargon and gigabyte specs.
We love how Buffer, a popular social media blog, reflects on the difference between benefits and features by stating, “People Don’t Buy Products, They Buy Better Versions of Themselves“.
3. We went to great length on details
“Details matter, it’s worth waiting to get it right.” – Steve Jobs (Yes, it’s him again)
So our dream in a bird’s eye view looks great- but it doesn’t end there. It simply can’t. Fine tuning the details and ironing out the edges is a task we’ve happily taken on. Not only are the details crucial, but execution is vital as well.
So the take away here was that little things do mean a lot…
4. Yet, we still managed to keep it simple (don’t ask me how…)
Some people get excited about building something new that the world has never seen. Others get excited about making something more beautiful than it was before.
Others like making things faster. And some others get off on making something less expensive. But the one that stands out above all the others is the drive to make things easier. I like to make things easier for people. I love competing on easy.
One of the trickiest things to do is be mindful of not limiting a product in features while focusing on simplicity. We want to help small business owners win… with simplicity!
5. We want to create something that we’ll also use ourselves
We want to make email marketing a staple in every business plan, just like every business needs a phone line.
We plan to be the platform that brings together our customers with their customers, building “happy customers” all around. The world is looking for better email and EverEngage is ready to set the new standard in “delivering experiences, not just emails!” We are ready to lead…
